Swix Polaris Baselayer Pants W are women’s 100% merino wool base-layer pants for cross-country skiing and winter outdoor activities. Merino adds warmth next to the skin and helps regulate comfort as terrain and pace change.

An elastic waistband, crotch gusset and flatlock seams support freedom of movement. Polaris is worn beneath ski or outdoor pants: the base layer provides warmth and moisture management, while the outer pants protect against the weather.

• Under Triac on freezing days: with Triac Pants W, Polaris adds warmth for easy endurance skiing. If your thighs feel cold in lightweight pants, a merino base layer is one way to adjust the outfit.
• Under insulated pants, choose carefully. Elevation Pants W and Horizon Pants 2.0 W already have extra front insulation. Merino underneath may suit cold, easy outings; for tempo sessions and intervals I would try a lighter base layer.
