🏷️ XCSkiGuru’s guide to klister (classic kick zone)

• 1) Clean & mask: Clean the kick zone (≈55–70 cm, ski/skier dependent). Mask the glide zone.
• 2) Texture: P80–120 sanding, tip → tail. Wipe dust.
• 3) Base klister: Very thin layer, warm lightly or cork in.
• 4) Condition klisters: 1–3 thin beads, smooth lightly. Too much klister = grabby.
• 5) Zone length: Default ≈ hard-wax zone. Slips → +2–5 cm backward; grabs → shorten at the front.
• 6) Harder/softer: Icy/hard → harder top or hard-wax cover; wet/coarse → softer top.
• 7) Cool-down: 10–20 min, lightly even the surface.
• 8) Test: Gentle climb: kick without over-sticking, free glide.

When to use klister?

• Above freezing, wet/coarse snow (+1…+6 °C)
• Icy/hard tracks
• Mixed snow: hard base + condition-specific top

Combos & quick tips

• Klister + hard-wax cover reduces grab around 0 °C.
• Dirty snow: thin antistatic/topper.
• Too much kick/grabby: shorten the zone, remove surface, harder top.
• Slipping: +2–5 cm backward or a thin soft bead in the middle.

Safety & cleanliness

• Gloves, ventilation, moderate heat.
• Cleaning: klister remover, fiber cloth; scrape only the kick zone.
