Swix Triac Pants M are men’s technical pants for active cross-country skiing. A three-layer softshell front protects against wind, while stretch rear panels allow the classic stride and lateral weight transfer in skate skiing.

A brushed seat adds warmth, and mesh panels behind the knees increase ventilation as effort rises. Articulated knees and a crotch gusset support freedom of movement, including in a low skiing stance.

The elastic waistband adjusts with an internal drawcord. Zipped hand pockets keep small essentials secure, and leg zippers make dressing easier.

• For classic and skate skiing: Triac combines a protective front with a stretch back. A long classic stride needs hip extension and skate skiing needs lateral weight transfer. A good fit while standing is not the whole picture.
• For tempo sessions and intervals, I would first try thin technical base-layer pants according to conditions. Thick underwear can reduce the benefit of the ventilating construction.
